Critical questions media coursework
In my early research of codes and conventions I already had an idea of how the front cover should look, it was clear that I needed a covers star along with attractive coverlines and bright sell lines. I chose to have the masthead in a serif font but in white. I wanted it to be presented as understated but knowledgeable. The white is often associated with purity which I think goes with what I am trying to achieve in this magazine. Often magazines will have quite brash and overly colourful mastheads which i think can draw readers away. i have also used a strapline which goes with the conventions of a magazine as something to give a little bit of insight into the magazine and what the goal of it is. In my case 'Changing the game' both links to the 'game' of golf and also the entire genre of sports magazines. The serif font I use makes sure to connote that there is a weight of experience behind my magazine and also shows professionalism without being dull or too bold. On my coverlines I separate them so areas are not too populated and focus can be kept on each section. I draw attention to key elements of the coverlines but highlighting certain sections in brighter colour.
