Significance of Flaherty - Reflection

 From my research it is clear that Robert Flaherty was an innovator in terms of how we approach documentary today, allowing the camera to show a perspective of the world but also allowing you the power to convey a message through how you present something and shape peoples opinions. It means in terms of my work I need to allow a story to be told through the footage but also make sure the correct message is portrayed. I think something key I learned from Flaherty is not all documentary is absolute fact. In many cases our stereotypical view of something is emphasized so fact and fiction can often collide jus to present a certain message.
